The festivities begin on Wednesday, September 23, with the Jersey Auction from noon to 3:00 p.m. in the Oakley High School lobby. That evening, the FCA Interfaith Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the Wesleyan Church. The Bonfire and Pep Rally will follow at approximately 8:00 p.m., or once it becomes dark, on the practice football field.
The excitement continues on Friday, September 25, with the Homecoming Parade beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Main Street. The Crowning Ceremony will take place at 6:30 p.m. on the Oakley High School football field, followed by the Homecoming football game at 7:00 p.m. as the Plainsmen take on the Hoxie Indians.
Homecoming Week will conclude on Saturday, September 26, with the Homecoming Dance. The dance will be held from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m. in the cafeteria, and students are asked to wear semi-formal attire.
We look forward to celebrating this special week with our students, families, and community. Come out, show your Plainsmen pride, and help us make Homecoming 2026 a week to remember!
Attention Activity Groups and Community Businesses:
The 2026 Homecoming Parade line up will look different this year!
On Friday, September 25th, all students and staff that park in the EAST parking lot will have to park in the new parking lot across from the middle school. All staff that park in front of the middle school will also have to park in the new parking lot across from the middle school.
We will have all Royalty, Candidate, and Honoree cars line up on 7th street between the parking lot and cafeteria (pink area on the map).
We will have all school sponsored floats line up in the EAST parking lot (green area on the map).
We will have all community business parade entries lined up on 7th street headed WEST (orange area on the map).
The parade route will be as normal down center street to the south!

Mrs. Millicent Codner is our preschool through sixth-grade music teacher. She began her teaching career at Oakley Public Schools in 2025. She married her husband, Jesse, this summer on July 11th! Together, they have a dog named Hardy. When she isn’t at school, Mrs. Codner enjoys reading, sewing, spending time outdoors, and making memories with her husband. One fun fact about Mrs. Codner is that she loves to craft! Due to her love for reading, Sarah J. Maas, an author, is someone famous she would love to meet. If she could take her students on any field trip, she would choose to take them to see a musical, which is fitting since music was her favorite subject in school. If she weren’t a teacher, she would love to be famous!
One piece of advice Mrs. Codner would give her students is to try to enjoy new experiences before complaining because sometimes we can get in the way of our own enjoyment. Her family would describe her as smart and silly, and she shares that her dad is someone who inspires her. She loves cheering for the Kansas State University Wildcats. One thing she simply could not live without is ice for her drinks!
Students spent the day learning about new technology in agriculture, exploring different careers, and seeing how technology continues to shape the future of the ag industry.
We are thankful for opportunities like this for our students!
